Debbie Denso ~ Director of Corporate Teams
Debbie Denso began her career in the grocery industry as a checker at the Ralph’s Grocery Company in Southern California while earning her Bachelor’s degree at San Diego State University. Upon graduation, Debbie entered the work force at Bradshaw South, a large food broker with offices in southern and northern CA. Beginning as an entry level sales representative, calling on conventional grocery stores, she was quickly promoted to Grocery Sales Trainer. During her six year tenure Debbie was also promoted to Retail District Manager and Key Account Manager calling on independent retailers in the market.
In 1991 Debbie left Bradshaw South to join her father at Golden State Sales and Marketing; a new food brokerage company which he had opened the previous year. Over the next 15 years Debbie held several positions within the company that covered all aspects of the business. She worked in accounting, customer Service, account sales, business management and national account management. Debbie created the specialty foods division of GSSM and was an early pioneer of natural brands into the grocery class of trade. She developed a comprehensive gourmet department for the company and worked closely with the specialty distributors and all grocery retailers in Southern California.
In 2006 Debbie’s father sold his company to Impact Sales and Debbie stayed on to run the Natural/Specialty division for the company in Southern California. She became proficient at fact based sales, utilizing the new tools Impact Sales provided. PinnSights data (derived from AC Nielsen scan data) became the norm in her planning and selling. Setting sales objectives for her clients, using PinnSights, Debbie was able to further establish growth for the brands she managed.
In early 2010 Concept Sales and Associates (which solely worked with Natural and Specialty foods clients covering the west in the natural and conventional grocery classes of trade) and Impact Sales got together and created CSI Sales Solutions. The company was formed to take Natural, Specialty and Ethnic foods to a whole new level, by providing their clients with the fact based sales tools. Debbie’s position became “Director of Southern California, Grocery Division” for the newly formed company.
With the growth and success of CSI Sales with their clients at Kroger and Safeway Corporate, CSI Sales made the move to expand the management of these corporate teams. Debbie accepted the newly created position of “Director of Corporate Teams”. In addition to this role she continues to manage a few of our clients in the Southern California Market.
Debbie was born in San Diego CA and graduated from San Diego State University. She has been married to her husband, Chuck for 24 years and they have two boys, Dylan (21) and Tanner (19). Rich Walsh ~ Director Northwest Grocery
Like so many of us at CSI, rich grew up in the business. His family owned a frozen food distribution company in California which specialized in Ice cream. The family saw the growth potential in natural foods and started distributing natural frozen foods and Rich headed up the sales. The company quickly became the largest DSD company of frozen foods in northern California. The family decided to sell the company in 1995.
Rich then took a position with Small Planet Foods in which he developed the sales on the Cascadian Farms, Muir Glen and Fantastic Foods brands in both the natural foods and grocery classes of trade. His responsibilities also included club business, managing the west coast Sales managers along with their sales organizations and the sales analysis team. As Cascadian Farms grew, Richs roll increased and he was a key person folding in acquired brands into the Cascadian system. In 2000, Cascadian Farms was acquired by General mills and the new parent company put Rich into a key roll to help integrate the company into the system. Rich took on a major roll in sales managing 7 broker teams, as well as the key distributors in the west. He was instrumental in opening up new accounts, club business and negotiating for Private Label contracts. Through his leadership at General Mills, the company achieved sales growth of over 35% per year… No small feet when you are managing through the integration process of 2 companies.
As General Mills consolidated, Rich decided to take a restructuring package and invest in a small brokerage company in the PNW headed up by Megan Vivenzio… yes Concept Sales Northwest. As the company grew Rich split his time with the company on its board of Directors and a non profit foundation inOregon. After a couple of years doing this, Rich accepted a position as Director of Grocery in the Northwest for the company and has done a fantastic job of expanding our clients business within this class of trade and is a key shareholder in the company.
